Servings: 8
Total time: 30 minutes
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup hot water
- Oil for frying
DIRECTIONS
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the hot water and mix until a dough forms. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour 1 Tbsp at a time until it comes together.
- Cover and let rest for 20 minutes to a half hour.
- Meanwhile, fill a heavy-bottomed pot with 1 inch of oil and heat over medium-high to 350 degrees F.
- Break off golf-ball-sized pieces of dough and roll them into balls about 1.5” wide. On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle about 6” in diameter.
- Fry each piece in the heated oil until golden and puffy, about 20 seconds, then flip and fry the other side for 10-20 seconds longer. Remove to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain.
- Serve warm with desired toppings!
