Berry BBQ Sauce

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup blueberries or huckleberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt

DIRECTIONS

  • In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, bring the berries and water to a boil for 5 minutes. Mash the berries as they cook.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and simmer over medium-low heat for another 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and use an immersion blender to create a smoother texture, or pass through a fine-mesh sieve.
  • Serve with bison burgers!
