Country-Style Green Beans

INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb fresh green beans, rinsed, ends trimmed, and cut into bite-sized pieces
- ½ cup white onion, diced
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 4 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 Tbs butter
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
- In a large pot, melt the butter.
- Add the onion, garlic, and bacon, and cook for about 5 minutes, until the onion becomes translucent and the bacon starts to crisp.
- Add the beef broth and bring to a boil.
- Add the red pepper flakes and beans.
- Cover and lower the heat to simmer for about 1 hour. Check for desired tenderness and cook longer if necessary.
- Season with salt and pepper and serve!
