(Ginger) Beer Brats

INGREDIENTS
- 2 lbs raw bratwurst sausages
- 2 cups ginger beer
- 2 cups water
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup butter
- 1 ½ tsp ground black pepper
- 10 hoagie rolls (NOT hot dog buns)
- Spicy brown mustard to taste
DIRECTIONS
- In a large stockpot over medium heat, melt the butter, then add the onions and sautee until tender. Add the bratwursts and top with ginger beer and water.
- Bring to a boil, then lower heat to simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Remove bratwursts but leave the onions simmering for later.
- Lightly oil the grate of an outdoor grill or stovetop griddle and heat to medium-high.
- Cook the bratwursts about 10 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally, until evenly browned.
- Serve on hoagie rolls with reserved onions and spicy brown mustard.
