Gooey Butter Cake

INGREDIENTS
- 1 (18.25-oz) box yellow cake mix
- ½ cup butter, melted
- 4 large eggs, divided
- 2 tsp vanilla, divided
- ¼ tsp almond extract
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 3 cups powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, butter, 2 of the eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, and almond extract.
- Evenly spread and press the mixture into a greased 9×13 baking dish.
- In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the cream cheese, 2 eggs, and 1 tsp vanilla. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
- Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake layer and spread evenly.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until edges are golden brown and a toothpick comes out with few crumbs (it’s best slightly underbaked).
- Cool completely and top with more powdered sugar before serving.
